About my work:
For Arianne Faber, the frugal lines she draws by hand in India ink represent pure expressivity. With a brush, metal or bamboo nib, she intuitively produces organic lines that defy homogeneity. She also reconciles spontaneity and concision when she adds colours to her drawings. By eliminating all superfluous elements, her “graphic observations” –there are more than thirty of them– sharply underscore the sarcastic tone they convey. Characterized by their white backgrounds, the subject of her observation is isolated from outside contaminants by a thick border that is technologically familiar, in a nod to the spectator. Faber identifies with the combined naiveté and critical spirit of artists such as Saul Steinberg, one of her greatest influences, among with Tomi Ungerer.

Sobre mi obra:
En la parquedad de la línea trazada a mano con tinta negra, Arianne Faber encuentra la esencia de la expresividad. Con pincel, plumilla metálica o de bambú, su trazo intuitivo y flexible evita lo homogéneo. Concilia espontaneidad y concisión, también al incorporar colores. Al suprimir lo superfluo, sus “Observaciones gráficas” –que ya superan la treintena– subrayan con nitidez el tono mordaz. Con fondos casi siempre blancos, aísla la escena de contaminación exterior con un grueso marco familiarmente tecnológico, en un guiño al espectador. Faber se identifica con esa combinación de ingenuidad y espíritu crítico de autores como Saul Steinberg, uno de sus grandes referentes junto con Tomi Ungerer.
